Public Safety

Pacific is only one of two private universities in California whose officers have full police officer authority, giving them the ability to focus on keeping the university community safe, 24/7. On each of our campuses in Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco, we provide protection, services and education to ensure a safe place for our students, faculty, staff and guests, to live, study, work and visit. Through the department's strategic approach to campus safety and the outstanding work or our officers, Pacific's crime statistics are among the lowest of our peer institutions.

Emergency Preparedness

University of the Pacific is committed to providing a safe educational and working environment for all of our students, staff, faculty, and guests. While Public Safety provides 24-hour protection on all three of the university’s campuses, it is important that everyone in the Pacific community share in the responsibility of keeping themselves and others safe. Included on this website are important emergency resources and information that will help you and the university prepare, respond, and recover from a crisis situation.

In an Emergency:

Your safety is our primary concern. If there is an emergency or you witness suspicious activity, contact Public Safety by doing one of the following:

  • Call 6-3911. This will connect you to Public Safety from any on-campus phone.
  • Press an emergency call button on a “blue” light station. This will directly connect you to Public Safety on your campus.
  • Call Public Safety on the respective campuses:
    • Stockton: 6-2537 or (209) 946-2537
    • Sacramento: 4-7200 or (916) 739-7200
    • San Francisco: 5-6411 or (415) 929-6456

Campus Parking

Parking on all three university campuses is by permit only. Public Safety officers enforce traffic and parking permit regulations on each campus and patrol campus parking on a regular basis. Each campus has different parking arrangements and policies. Information for alternative transportation options is available here Links to an external site..

Permits Links to an external site. are required for all parking on the Sacramento and Stockton Campuses. All users of parking facilities agree to abide by the university's Parking Permit Terms and Conditions Links to an external site. and to obey all parking and traffic regulations. Permit parking is enforced by the Department of Public Safety weekdays between 8am to 5pm. on the Stockton Campus and 8am to 5pm. on the Sacramento Campus. All other enforcement is done 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Faculty, staff and students parking on campus require a permit. Permits are sold at the beginning of each academic year, semester and month. Hourly and daily permits are also available through the Passport Parking app Links to an external site..

Parking lots are identified by zone. Vehicles may only park in lots corresponding to their permit. “A” lots are only for faculty and staff, while “B” and “C” lots are available to everyone. At the beginning of each fall semester, faculty, staff, and students can buy yearly campus parking permits. They may also chose to purchase their permits by the semester or monthly.

Electric Vehicle Charging is now available in all large parking lots on the Stockton Campus. Learn more about the types of parking permits available. Links to an external site.
